Scott, a third generation home builder, attended The Kinkaid School and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with a minor in Business from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation, Scott began his career working with Newmark Homes as a Construction Superintendent building starter homes, predominantly in the Pearland area. He then went on to work as a Construction Manager for a new building company called Lindenwood Homes, which was later acquired by John Lang Homes. Scott joined Frankel Building Group in a full time capacity in 2006, where he could take full of advantage of the opportunity to expand his vision and passion for custom home design and building. He is now the Vice President of Operations and Construction for Frankel Building Group.
Scott is a Graduate Master Builder, a Certified Green Professional and a Certified Graduate Builder. Scott recently became a Master Certified Green Professional, the first registered in Texas, the second in the country. In addition, Scott is a member of an NAHB Builder 20 Group, enabling him to share wisdom and devise ways to improve operations, increase bottom lines, and enhance competitive advantages.
Scott has concentrated strategic efforts in the area of expanding green building in the custom home market, and has made great strides in changing the public perception regarding green building. He has spearheaded the campaign of presenting the "value-added" benefits of green technology, and the efficient use of energy and resources in building custom homes. Frankel Building Group will no longer build a house that is not in the LEED for Homes program. With very low buyer demand, he and his brother Kevin decided that they could create overall market demand by changing their building practices. “If we build only green homes, and they are truly ‘green homes’, and we match or beat our competitor’s prices per square foot, then they will have to build this way, too.” The Frankel’s scrapped their specifications and spent months creating new specifications that would meet the USGBC’s LEED for Homes standards at the Certified level, Green Built Gulf Coast Standards (adopted by the Greater Houston Builders Association), and NAHB ANSI standards. Scott’s dedication to Green Building earned him recognition as a “Green Hero” by the USGBC’s Texas Gulf Coast Chapter and the Houston Business Journal on October 8th, 2011 at their Inaugural Green Legacy Gala. He will be permanently recognized in the chapter’s Legacy Hall when construction is completed.
Scott was one of the two featured speakers, along with Joe Lstiburek, on December 8th, 2010, discussing spray polyurethane foam (SPF) technology in a Webinar sponsored by CertainTeed, one of the largest building product suppliers in the nation. Scott discussed the advantages of SPF from the perspective of a homebuilder, and also shared the reasons why Frankel Building Group chose SPF technology. Click here to watch. Scott also spoke on a radio show called "Guys Gone Green" with Mark Vandermeer April 9th on CBS Talk 650. Click here to listen.
Scott is serving his second year on the Greater Houston Builders Association's Sales and Marketing Council Board of Directors, and also as an alternate statewide director for the Texas Association of Builders.
