New Frankel Home in Spring Branch is Custom-Built for Art Lovers

February 7, 2020

Welcome to the modern art collector’s paradise. This home doesn’t just house the paintings and sculptures that the owners have been collecting since their teens. It is an art piece in and of itself, custom-designed and built by Frankel to showcase the couple’s lifelong art collection through stately architecture and eye-catching design — in addition to their very own private art gallery.

You’ll not find one place in this 6,695-square-foot, 6-bedroom, 6-bathroom home where aesthetic hasn’t been considered. Every nook and cranny has been designed for and around art, from the white, museum-like walls that canvas its interior to the floating wood staircase near the entrance that coils up and around the living space.

As you step under the stairway and into the living area, it’s impossible to overlook the floor-to-ceiling windows that take up the entire back wall and extend into the kitchen area and breakfast nook. To the right of the window wall, the cold-gray stone fireplace extends the entire two-story wall, while to the left sits the kitchen, which can easily be closed off with a sliding glass wall.

The living area’s plum accents bleed into the kitchen with purple-hued barstools situated at the first kitchen island — yes — one of two islands we built for the homeowners. Considering the couple frequently entertains, the two waterfall granite islands and a spacious kitchen made perfect sense for preparing food and drinks.

The master bedroom is a departure from the living room and kitchen and features a darker color palette and a variety of textures such as stone, granite and stucco. The master also dons its own beveled granite fireplace, which gives the room that resort-like feel the owners really wanted.

The master bath shares the master bedroom’s color palette, textures and overall feel. The resort-style bath features a massive window wall, stone floors and ledges, aluminum light fixtures, and dark wood cabinetry.

However, the best feature in this home isn’t the living room, the kitchen or the master suite — it’s the custom-built art gallery, which we meticulously designed to mimic a professional gallery space. The gallery was custom-crafted to compliment the art pieces in the owner’s collection as well as accommodate any future pieces that come into their possession.

We couldn’t be prouder of how this house turned out and hope our clients enjoy their home for many, many years!
